Committees
The vital work of the SEG Foundation is carried out through five standing committees that provide business guidance, oversight, and strategic direction to ensure the organization’s continued success.
Audit Committee
The Audit Committee assists the Foundation Board in fulfilling its financial oversight responsibilities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Reviewing audited financial statements, U.S. tax forms, and other financial documents
- Assessing compliance with policies and procedures
- Evaluating the independence and performance of external auditors
- Maintaining open communication among auditors, staff, and the Board
The Chair and members are appointed by the Foundation Board Chair.
Development Committee
The Development Committee guides and oversees fundraising initiatives to ensure the Foundation’s financial growth and sustainability.
Key responsibilities include:
- Overseeing the annual fundraising plan and campaigns
- Developing policies and strategies for donor engagement
- Participating in ongoing fundraising and stewardship activities
Members need not be part of the Foundation Board. The Chair and members are appointed by the Board Chair.
Executive Committee
The Executive Committee acts on behalf of the Foundation Board between meetings.
Key responsibilities include:
- Serving as liaison with Foundation staff
- Handling urgent business matters
- Conducting Board reviews and overseeing volunteer awards
- Serving as the Foundation’s Gift Acceptance Committee
The Committee is composed of the Chair, Vice Chair, and Treasurer.
Finance & Investment Committee
This committee oversees management of Foundation assets and ensures compliance with the Foundation’s Investment Policy and UPMIFA guidelines.
Key responsibilities include:
- Monitoring the Foundation’s financial status
- Tracking progress toward fundraising goals
- Providing regular financial reporting to the Board
The Treasurer serves as Chair unless otherwise designated by the Foundation Board Chair.
Nominating Committee
The Nominating Committee focuses on maintaining and strengthening the Foundation Board’s leadership capacity.
Key responsibilities include:
- Evaluating Board composition, knowledge, and effectiveness
- Recruiting and recommending future leaders
- Reviewing governance practices and leadership development
The Chair and members are appointed by the Foundation Board Chair.
Key Staff
Board & CEO Compensation
All SEG Foundation Board members are unpaid volunteers and do not receive compensation from the SEG Foundation or SEG. The Foundation does not have a paid CEO; the Chair and Vice Chair of the Board fulfill many of these responsibilities voluntarily.
