Dr. Alexander Mihai Popovici is CEO and Chairman of Z-Terra Inc., a leading provider of advanced geophysical and geological software for the upstream energy sector. With a Ph.D. and M.Sc. in Geophysics from Stanford University, and over three decades of industry experience, he is known for pioneering innovations in seismic imaging and depth processing. Dr. Popovici is the founder and former CEO of 3DGeo Inc., an award-winning geophysical technology company with global operations. He holds 12 patents, has authored over 100 publications, and has served as Principal Investigator on major NSF and DOE grants. A long-time leader within the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG), he has served as SEG Vice President, chaired the SEG International Conference, and co-founded the SEG Foundation’s Geoscientists Without Borders program. He is also the current President of the Geophysical Society of Houston (2024) and Honorary Consul of Romania in Houston. Beyond his professional achievements, he is an active philanthropist, scuba diving instructor, veteran fencer, and advocate for Romanian-American educational and cultural exchange.
