The SEG/Chevron Student Leadership Symposium (SLS) focuses on leadership, teamwork, and communication skills building for 50 student participants who are all active officers of their Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) Student Chapters.

Funded by Chevron, the SEG/Chevron Student Leadership Symposium (SLS) offers chapter officers and nominated members a unique opportunity to engage in leadership coaching, panel discussions, real-world problem solving, and cross-chapter collaboration—all culminating at the annual IMAGE convention.
SLS travel grant recipients receive airfare, lodging, per diem, and registration to the 2026 International Meeting for Applied Geoscience and Energy (IMAGE) in Houston, Texas. Ahead of the event, awardees participate in virtual workshops to build communication skills and connect with fellow attendees and Chevron mentors. During the Symposium, students will present their chapter’s achievements in a dedicated Poster Session.
All active chapters are encouraged to nominate one member. Awardees are expected to share their experience and insights with their chapter community.
