The leadership at the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) are committed to representative leadership that brings a wide range of perspectives to guide decisions, strengthen our mission, and ensure we serve our members—and the global geoscience community—effectively. SEG’s leadership ecosystem brings together volunteer leaders and professional staff who share one goal: advancing the science and application of geophysics worldwide.

Strategic and Executive Leadership


The Board of Directors and Executive Leadership Team work in partnership to provide vision, strategy, and operational excellence that keep SEG strong and forward-looking.

Board of Directors

Establishes SEG’s strategic direction, governance, 
and policies; and ensures the Society remains true to its mission and values.

Executive Leadership Team

Led by Executive Director Jim White, the team oversees daily operations and programs that deliver value to members, sponsors, and partners across the globe.

SEG Council


The SEG Council represents the voice of the membership through elected delegates from Sections, Associated Societies, Technical Sections, and Districts.

The Council advises the Board on strategic initiatives, member engagement, and society priorities—ensuring SEG remains responsive to the evolving needs of the global geoscience community.
