Types of Endowments
SEG Foundation offers flexible endowment options to match your philanthropic goals. Choose the endowment type that aligns with your philanthropic vision.
Why Endowments Matter
Example: The Michael C. Forrest Honorary Fund.
Recognize a donor, family, or honoree through a lasting fund that carries their name. These endowments reflect personal commitment and create a legacy that continues to support future generations.
Program-Specific Endowments
Example: GWB Endowment for Humanitarian Projects.
Support a defined area such as Field Camps, Scholarships, or Geoscientists without Borders®. Gifts to these funds ensure that core programs receive consistent, dedicated resources year after year.
Unrestricted Endowments
Example: SEG Foundation General Fund.
Provide the greatest flexibility. Earnings can be directed where they are needed most, helping the SEG Foundation respond to new opportunities and emerging needs across all programs.

Impact and Reporting
Endowment Reporting and Stewardship
SEG Foundation ensures every endowed fund is managed with integrity and transparency. Donors receive detailed annual reports highlighting fund performance, program impact, and future goals.
Each endowment donor receives:
- A copy of the SEG Foundation Annual Report, highlighting the Foundation’s overall impact and activities throughout the year.
- An individualized endowment report detailing how the fund specifically supported SEG programs, scholarships, or initiatives, along with a financial update reflecting the fund’s performance and distributions.
These reports demonstrate the tangible impact endowed gifts make in advancing geoscience education, research, and humanitarian programs worldwide.
