David Bartel is a Director Emeritus of the SEG Foundation, having served on the Board from 2015 to 2023, including as Chair in 2023. A member of SEG since 1979, David earned his bachelor’s and master’s degree in geophysics from the University of Utah and his PhD in Engineering Geoscience from the University of California, Berkeley. He spent 32 years with Chevron in exploration and technical geophysics roles, contributing to numerous global projects before retiring in 2020. Throughout his career, David has demonstrated a deep commitment to advancing geophysical science and supporting the next generation of geoscientists through his leadership within SEG.
