Dr. Neal Rodney Goins is a retired executive from ExxonMobil Corporation, where he held diverse leadership roles including research scientist, operations business manager, president of an overseas affiliate, and Vice President of Global International Government Relations. Raised in Latin America, he earned a degree in Physics from Princeton University and a PhD in Geophysics from MIT. His career has spanned the U.S., Nigeria, and Mexico, and he served on the seismology team for NASA’s Viking mission to Mars. Neal has also served on multiple boards, including the U.S. Department of State Advisory Committee on Economic Policy and as President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Mexico.
In 2025 Neal served as Treasurer of the SEG Foundation and a member of the 2025 SEG Executive Committee and moved to Chair of the SEGF Board in 2026. His prior work on the SEG/SEGF Alignment Task Force positions him to further advance the “One SEG” strategy, strengthening collaboration between the Society and Foundation. A committed volunteer with exceptional management and communication skills, Neal’s extensive international experience and passion for advancing geoscience make him a highly effective and respected voice for the SEG Foundation and its global mission.
