Dr. Shipeng Fu serves as a Director on the SEG Foundation Board of Directors for the 2026-2028 term, following her term as Vice Chair from 2024–2025. She brings a strong record of leadership, innovation, and community engagement to the Foundation. Prior to her service with SEGF, Shipeng chaired the Society of Petroleum Engineers Golden Gate Section (2019–2022), where she earned the 2019 Regional Service Award and guided the section to receive the 2021 Regional Recognition Award. An accomplished engineer and entrepreneur, Shipeng has founded and co-founded startups across the energy and biotech industries, combining technical expertise with a passion for advancing sustainable innovation. She began her career as an engineer with Shell Oil in Houston, Texas, before joining a growing energy startup in the San Francisco Bay Area. Beyond her professional achievements, Shipeng is deeply committed to community service. She actively supports Palo Alto Partners in Education (PiE) and volunteers with several local initiatives focused on education and youth engagement. Shipeng holds a PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin. Her diverse leadership experience and dedication to empowering future generations make her a valuable voice in advancing the SEG Foundation’s mission to promote the science of geophysics and expand its impact worldwide.
