President Cheng names 2024 Presidential Award recipients

23 July 2024 | Houston, Texas, USA

Three individuals have been selected by President Arthur Cheng to receive the SEG Presidential Award in 2024. Established in 2008, the SEG Presidential Award is bestowed at the discretion of the SEG president to recognize those who have contributed outstanding service to the Society. This year’s recipients include Michael Fehler, Jim DiSiena, and Annabella Betancourt.

Michael Fehler is recognized for his work with SEAM. Mike has been involved with SEAM since its inception. He served as the project manager for SEAM Phase I and was instrumental in helping SEG obtain a grant from the Department of Energy to support the extension of Phase I into Phase I Elastic. Mike has been involved as project manager for several other SEAM projects, including the current CO2 Project. His work and his knowledge of SEAM data is second to none and he is the cornerstone of SEAM.

Jim DiSiena and Annabella Betancourt are recognized for the successful launch and development of the SEG EVOLVE CO2 Project. By nature, the project involves a lot more than just geophysical analysis. It is an integration of science, business considerations, and governmental regulations. It is an ambitious project that is beyond SEG’s normal single topic focused programs and involves a number of volunteer members. Jim and Annabella are recognized for their leadership role in pulling in resources from different constituents and make this an unqualified success. In addition, Annabella is also recognized for her overall work on SEG EVOLVE and other SEG programs.
