The Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) was pleased to participate in the International Geological Survey Roundtable, hosted by the Saudi Geological Survey (SGS) and held during the Future Minerals Forum in Riyadh on 13 January 2026. The gathering reinforced SEG’s commitment to advancing international collaboration, knowledge exchange, and shared leadership across the global geoscience community.

The session brought together leaders from geological surveys around the world to engage in dialogue on shared challenges, emerging opportunities, and the collective responsibility of advancing sustainable mineral development. Discussions emphasized the importance of cross-border cooperation and the integration of modern geoscience and digital technologies to support the evolving needs of mineral exploration.
The meeting also marked a significant and symbolic milestone for GEOMIN, SEG’s global geoscience and mining conference. During the event, the official GEOMIN baton handover took place, transitioning the host role from the Saudi Geological Survey to the Ministry of Mining Industry and Geology of the Republic of Uzbekistan. This handover highlights GEOMIN’s commitment to continuity and cross-regional collaboration, linking Central Asia, the Middle East, and Africa through a shared geoscience and mining dialogue.
To formally recognize this transition, SEG and the Ministry of Mining Industry and Geology of the Republic of Uzbekistan exchanged a signed Memorandum of Understanding, establishing their collaboration for GEOMIN 2026, scheduled to take place 14–18 September 2026 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The agreement underscores a shared commitment to delivering another successful edition of GEOMIN, while advancing digitally enabled, AI-driven mineral exploration and strengthening international partnerships.
As GEOMIN moves into its next chapter, SEG remains proud to lead the event’s continued growth as a global platform for collaboration, innovation, and knowledge exchange—building bridges across regions and shaping the future of mineral exploration worldwide.
