Aiman M. Bakhorji has been a member of SEG for more than two decades. He has actively contributed to the Society through various leadership and technical roles, including serving as president of the Dhahran Geoscience Society and chairing multiple technical committees for IPTC, IMAGE, and GEO. He has played a key role in SEG’s engagement in the Middle East, helping bridge the gap between academia, industry, and professional societies.
Bakhorji is currently a director in Aramco Exploration, overseeing geophysical imaging and specialized solutions. His leadership extends to managing teams focused on seismic acquisition, processing, imaging, rock physics, borehole seismic, and AI-driven geophysical solutions.
Under his guidance, his teams have achieved remarkable milestones, including more than 10 granted patents, 150-plus publications, and 250-plus conference presentations. His efforts in fostering technical excellence earned him the SEG Middle East Region Award in 2022. Additionally, he has established research partnerships with leading universities worldwide, strengthening industry-academic collaborations.
Bakhorji holds an MSc in geophysics from the University of Tulsa (2003) and a PhD in geophysics from the University of Alberta (2010). He has been a strong advocate for knowledge sharing, serving as an SEG continuing education lecturer and delivering numerous keynote presentations at SEG Middle East workshops.
