Gen AI and LLMs for Geoscientists and Energy Professionals

This short course introduces geoscientists to the transformative potential of Generative AI (GenAI) and Large Language Models (LLMs) in the oil and gas industry. Attendees will explore how these technologies can streamline workflows, enhance data interpretation, and support decision-making across exploration, development, and production geoscience tasks.

Through practical examples and case studies, the course will cover key applications such as automated report generation, natural language search in geoscience databases, seismic interpretation assistance, and integrating LLMs with domain-specific tools. The session is designed for geoscientists with little to no background in AI, offering accessible insights into how to adopt and integrate GenAI tools into their daily work.

By the end of the course, participants will gain a foundational understanding of LLMs, their capabilities and limitations, and actionable knowledge on leveraging GenAI for improved efficiency and innovation in subsurface exploration and reservoir management.
