About
10–12 February 2026
Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia
Event Overview
The oil and gas industry continues to evolve in complexity, demanding tighter integration between geoscientific understanding and engineering practices. Traditionally, geoscientists and engineers have approached reservoir characterization and development from different angles. Geoscientists have been focusing on subsurface structure and properties, whereas engineers have been concentrating on production performance. This siloed approach often leads to inconsistent models, missed opportunities, and increased uncertainty. Workflows are typically linear, with geoscientists feeding inputs to engineers, who then design and execute development strategies. However, engineering outcomes, such as production data and reservoir behaviors, can also refine geoscientific understanding, revealing insights that challenge initial assumptions. Embracing this two-way feedback loop leads to more adaptive and accurate reservoir models.
A comprehensive understanding of key reservoir properties such as porosity, permeability, pressure regimes, fault and fracture networks, diagenetic alterations, and heterogeneities is critical to guide well placement, optimize production, and manage long-term performance. By fostering cyclic collaboration between disciplines, from seismic through static modeling to reservoir simulation, geoscientists and engineers can develop more accurate understanding of the subsurface, taking full advantage of all data sources. This workshop provides a platform to encourage collaboration, promote unified thinking, and share best practices that drive more efficient and effective reservoir development.
Workshop Objectives
The objective of this workshop is to promote interdisciplinary collaboration between geoscientists, engineers and data scientists by exploring integrated approaches to reservoir characterization, development, and management. Participants will have the opportunity to exchange ideas, workflows, and technologies that unify geophysical interpretation, geological analysis, and engineering insights. Emphasis will be placed on leveraging seismic data, well information, and reservoir performance metrics to build coherent, predictive models that support informed decision-making across disciplines. The workshop invites subject matter experts and professionals from geoscience, engineering and data science disciplines to share case studies, best practices and lessons learned through technical presentations and open dialogue. Focus will be given to challenges and solutions related to advancement in data interpretation, integration, and visualization. Submissions demonstrating the application of digital technologies, including artificial intelligence, are strongly encouraged.
