4D Forum – Insight to Actions

About

4D Forum — Insight to Actions
9–11 November 2026
Galveston, Texas, USA

The SEG 4D Forum 2026 brings together geoscientists, engineers, and industry professionals from diverse disciplines and experience levels to share, build, and expand practical knowledge in time-lapse subsurface monitoring. Positioned uniquely between a traditional conference and an interactive workshop, this event blends structured sessions with open, participant-driven discussions—creating an environment for both learning and networking, regardless of background.

4D reservoir surveillance represents the intersection of geoscience and reservoir engineering. Successful implementation demands a strong foundation in fundamentals, seamless collaboration, and continuous innovation—along with a clear understanding of end-user needs to drive value-creating decisions.

Call for Abstracts

Abstract Submission Deadline extended from 1 May to 1 June 2026

The Organizing Team is pleased to invite you to submit abstracts for oral and poster presentations during the 2026 SEG 4D Forum — Insight to Actions.

This year we are focusing on how 4D seismic data creates value through these three pillars:

  • 4D Fundamentals
  • Collaboration and Integration
  • Innovation

We specifically want to showcase the value in 4D seismic driven by integration of geoscience and reservoir engineering.  Below is the draft 4D Forum session framework for the three-day Forum, including suggested abstract topics.

4D Forum Session Framework

Day 1: Practical Foundations

  • Seismic 4D basics and pitfalls practitioners need to know
  • Essentials of 4D value creation
  • Integrated interpretation and team workflows
  • Practical quantitative 4D approaches

Day 2: 4D Modeling and Digital Advances

  • Maps to models
  • Analysis to actions integrating with engineers
  • Closing the loop with seismic and reservoir simulations
  • Digital 4D, AI, ML, and Automation

Day 3: Innovation, Acquisition, and 4D FWI

  • Finding new paths and value streams
  • Trends in 4D acquisition strategies
  • Advances in data preparation: Traditional processing and 4D FWI
  • Advanced quantitative interpretation of 4D

We’re building the SEG 4D Forum into the premier event for cutting-edge 4D seismic—where geoscientists and reservoir engineers unite to advance the science, grounded in strong fundamentals. Be part of this collaborative journey: submit your abstract under one of our pillars today!

Fundamentals:

Getting value from 4D starts with the basics and foundational physics. We are interested in papers that emphasize accessible workflows and methods that consistently deliver results in real-world projects.  4D core principles and foundational techniques driving 4D Insight into Actions in practical ways.

Collaboration and Integration:

Realizing the value of 4D surveillance depends on integration between geoscience and engineering.  We are particularly interested in case studies demonstrating integration between geoscience and engineering.  What does effective collaboration between engineering and geoscience look like in your 4D programs? What key questions do reservoir engineers have about 4D reliability, uncertainty, and quantitative integration that the industry can learn from? Show us your story of taking 4D seismic from data to models and from analysis to action.

Innovation:

Unlocking the full value of 4D investments requires pushing technical boundaries for cost-effective surveillance and new value streams, such as new acquisition strategies, advanced FWI workflows or AI / ML automation. We are asking for papers that highlight the industry innovations in these spaces and show the amazing 4D quality improvements that have been achieved in recent years.  What are the future innovations that will be enabled by continued advancements in 4D seismic?
