SEG Strategic Options (SO) Task Force Update

Hello SEG members,

I am pleased to announce—based on the work of the Strategic Options (SO) Task Force—the Board has decided to continue and accelerate the transformation of SEG as an independent organization. I would like to personally thank the SO Task Force for their hard work and thorough review of all the strategic options for the Society. As their work is complete, that Task Force has disbanded. I would also like to thank you, our members, and stakeholders for the great feedback to the Task Force during the process.

What is next for SEG?

Now it is time to get to work! As previously mentioned, small focus groups are currently underway to get feedback on the value of SEG now and potential additional value in the future. This input will be key as we design the path forward. As those focus groups wrap up, we will simultaneously keep working to move forward. That work includes consideration from the Board on:

  • The creation of an Implementation Committee
  • Committee members to be determined
  • Committee to develop guidelines, vision, process, and timeline
  • Hiring a project manager to coordinate the process

Since this is a very recent decision by the Board, there are still a lot of details to iron out. I will continue to update you as we progress. This is an exciting time for our Society, and I am confident our future is bright.

Sincerely,

Anna Shaughnessy
SEG President and Chair of the Board
