Brian Sabin Student Support Fund – Endowment
The SEG/Brian Sabin Student Support endowment was established in 2018 by family and friends. The family is working towards raising the minimum funds required to create a SEG Scholarship endowment in Brian’s memory. Currently, the Sabin Student Support fund assists any efforts with direct student-related activities.
A successful scholarship endowment will include an award preference for geophysics students studying at Brigham Young University, or otherwise selected at the discretion of the Scholarship Committee.
Challenge Bowl Support Fund
The SEG Challenge Bowl competition is a global contest testing students’ breadth and depth of knowledge about the field of geoscience. Students of all areas of geosciences are encouraged to participate in this unique event which combines knowledge, competition and fun. The SEG Challenge Bowl World Finals is held in conjunction with the SEG Annual Meeting each year.

EVOLVE Program Support Fund
The SEG EVOLVE Program provides subsurface learning projects in an interactive, noncompetitive team environment that fosters global participation. Please visit seg.org/EVOLVE for more information about this program.
In part, EVOLVE is delivered through cloud technology which provides a unique virtual learning experience to university students and early career individuals. Team projects require analysis and application of geophysical/seismic, geologic, petrophysical, and petroleum engineering data and software technology, to support integrated reservoir management, problem solving, and decision making.
Student (General) Support Fund
The Student (General) Support Fund is intended to support the preparation of students and emerging professionals for successful academic and long-term careers in geophysics. SEG’s student and early career programs provide essential tools and resources for educational enhancement, travel, networking, and leadership training.
Our students’ areas of interest and needs are ever changing. Therefore, the Student Support (General) Fund allows flexibility for providing the funding necessary to any given student program when it is needed most. Give back by supporting our future geoscientists today. Please visit seg.org/Student-Early-Career for additional information about SEG’s student programs.
Student Chapter Support Fund
The SEG Student Chapters program brings together a group of like-minded individuals who share a common interest in geophysics. Providing opportunities for leadership, achievement, and cultivation of ideas, SEG Student Chapters open the door for students to actively participate in projects and initiatives that promote the science of geophysics. Please visit seg.org/studentchapters for more information about this program.

Student Travel Grants
Students and recent graduates have an opportunity to learn leading edge geophysical knowledge, meet potential and prospective employers, visit with individuals who are living the excitement of their chosen profession, and catch a glimpse of all the industry has to offer while attending an SEG-sponsored meeting. Student Travel Grants can help defray the costs associated with a participants travel, including airfare, hotel, registration, and per diem.

What’s the difference between an endowment and a non-endowed gift?
Endowment
Funds are to be invested and the earnings are to be spent according to the board designated annual spending rate.
Non-Endowed
Funds are to be used for operating and programmatic expenditures and are received with the intent of being spent within twelve to twenty-four months of receipt.
Development Reinvestiment Fee
In accordance with SEG Foundation policy, a Development Reinvestment Fee of 5% is assessed on donations of $500 or more to a restricted fund. This fee is used to support Foundation expenses associated with donor stewardship and fundraising. The entire donated amount, including the Development Reinvestment Fee, is considered a charitable donation to the SEG Foundation. Thank you!
