Addressing the Challenges in Processing Data for Land and Shallow Water in the Middle East

Workshop Description

The workshop aims to explore current best practices and developments in land and shallow water seismic processing for maximizing the value of legacy data and exploiting the entire potential of the newly acquired full azimuth, long offset broadband data. We will discuss the latest solutions such as deblending, model-based noise attenuation, statics, full waveform inversion, 5D data reconstruction, attenuation and imaging with multiples, velocity model building, and migration, in addition to other emerging processing technologies.

Acquisition techniques, which enabled recent processing solutions, will also be of interest, with topics such as onshore compressive sensing, simultaneous acquisition, distributed acoustic sensors (DAS), and cable free nodal systems. Incorporation and integration of passive and non-seismic methods to enhance land data processing solutions will be considered as well.

Given the surge in recorded data volumes, the application of Machine Learning (ML) for automated analysis of these enormous datasets becomes a pertinent topic for the workshop with its use to help uncover patterns and trends and speed up decision-making processes.

Geoscientists with varying backgrounds will have the opportunity to exchange ideas, share their experiences, and learn new techniques. The workshop is designed to cover theories and applications as well as case studies on land and shallow water data. It will serve as a forum for open and extended discussions on the future use of modern processing technologies for seismic data in hydrocarbon exploration, development, and production. 

The workshop will also focus on expanding the use of seismic data processing beyond just oil and gas exploration to serve other objectives such as near-surface characterization, CO2 sequestration and storage, and time-lapse monitoring.
