Leveraging Technologies to Unlock Egypt’s Energy Potential Symposium

About

28–30 April 2025
New Cairo, Egypt

Symposium Description

Egypt’s sustainable development, energy is needed. Hydrocarbons have been and will remain the main source of energy for the next few decades. Egypt is entering a new chapter of oil and gas activities aiming to achieve 2030 country strategies and objectives by focusing on increasing the energy mix, unlocking the potential of frontier areas, attracting more investment to develop gas fields, and increasing production from existing producing fields. Technology and the right experienced talent are key pillars to achieve this goal.

It is well recognized that different technical challenges are faced by NOCs, IOCs, and technology providers in the Western Desert, Nile Delta, Gulf of Suez, and Red Sea basins, and that insufficient time and money have been dedicated to converting these challenges into opportunities.

However, much remains to be done to unlock the potential of these basins in terms of new reserves and optimal development and production plans. Egypt still has huge potential for medium to giant hidden resources to be discovered (like Zohr, GNN, Raven, and Noors). The USGS and major companies estimate that the yet-to-find number is more than 4 billion barrels of oil in the offshore and 159 trillion cubic feet of gas in the Mediterranean and Red Sea, and our mission is to find and produce these resources economically.

The recent move to digital data by Egypt Upstream Gateway (EUG) and the provision of country-wide data sets and reports should make the search for hydrocarbons more efficient and timelier.

The symposium is designed to connect experts in those basins and analogue basins to share their best practices and lessons learned, propose new technologies and its success stories, and to discuss new initiatives in an interactive and open forum.

Symposium Objectives

This symposium will serve as a meeting hub to feature industry influencers, technical experts, and stakeholders to meet, engage and share advancements in their region. The technical program will include dedicated keynote speeches by Government Leaders, Heads of Exploration and the Sector’s Key Stakeholders. This will set the stage for technical experts looking to contribute their learnings.

SEG and its partners are hosting this symposium as a platform to present, discuss, and challenge ideas, innovations, and case studies to take us one step closer to the next discovery. In addition, to enhance production from existing fields.
