12–13 June 2023
Virtual
The SEG Europe Regional Advisory Committee is proud to host a comprehensive virtual workshop on Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) from 12–13 June 2023. The workshop will take place from 12:00 PM- 05:15PM CEST, which is UTC +2 hours.
The aim of the workshop is to provide an in-depth overview of the CCS landscape, covering regulatory, technical, geotechnical, and monitoring aspects. Participants will have ample time for discussions and questions over the course of two days.
This free virtual workshop is ideal for students, geoscientists, and engineers looking to expand their knowledge on CCS. The program has been thoughtfully divided into two days, with three sessions each. The technical portion of the workshop begins with a keynote overview on the challenges and opportunities for CCUS to help reach net-zero emissions. The first session is dedicated to CO2 monitoring and features perspectives from the EU, Japan, and the SEG SEAM CO2 project.
Day two starts with a session on CO2 interaction with engineering and metals, focusing on the challenges of infrastructure integrity, transportation, and storage. The session also explores the various ways to employ geophysics to monitor and detect these issues. Session two of day two addresses the business context for CCUS, covering full supply chain CCUS activities and roles, regulatory recommendations, and challenges, with a special focus on Europe.

Attend
The workshop will focus on the crucial role of carbon capture and storage (CCS) initiatives in supporting governmental targets and ensuring a transformation to a net-zero emissions driven economy. As a geophysicist, you will have the opportunity to engage with experts in the field and gain knowledge on the following topics:
- Monitoring for CO2 storage
- Engineering and chemicals associated with CO2 storage
- Monitoring CO2 stores
- Regulation and technology for CCS storage
By attending this workshop, you will not only gain valuable insights but also contribute to the global initiative of addressing climate change and environmental degradation. Your expertise is crucial in achieving the goal of a net-zero emissions economy.
