John C. Bancroft
John obtained his BSc and MSc from the University of Calgary and a Ph.D. from BYU. He has been working in the Calgary geophysical industry since 1980 and has worked for Geo-X Systems Ltd., Veritas Geophysical, and the CREWES consortium.
John is a faculty member of the Department of Geoscience at the University of Calgary. He has developed software for the seismic processing industry and has specialized in the areas of static analysis, velocity estimation, and seismic migration. He continues to develop a fast prestack migration for conventional and converted wave data, and prestack migrated statics analysis.
John has served the geophysical industry in numerous capacities on technical committees for the SEG and CSEG conventions. He is an instructor for the SEG and has taught many courses throughout the world. He received honorable mention for a best paper at the 1994 SEG convention and won the best paper award at the 1995 CSEG National Convention, the Laric Hawkins Memorial Award at the 2001 ASEG Conference, and in 2005 received an Honorary Membership to the CSEG.
John is a member of ASEG, CSEG, SEG, IEEE, and APEGGA.
