Brian Russell holds a B.S. in geophysics from the University of Saskatchewan, Canada, and an M.S. in geophysics from the University of Durham, England. He started his career in 1976 at Chevron in Calgary as an exploration geophysicist. He then worked for Teknica as a senior explorationist, Veritas Seismic as a research and training geophysicist, and Veritas Software as vice-president of marketing and training. He is currently vice-president of Hampson-Russell Software Services, coordinating worldwide marketing efforts and participating in new software development and training. Mr. Russell also presents courses on new geophysical technology throughout the world for SEG and IHRDC. He was SEG President in 1998-99, is a past Chairman of The Leading Edge Editorial Board, was SEG Second Vice-President in 1993-94, Technical Co-Chairman of the 1996 SEG Annual Meeting, and is also a past-president of the Canadian SEG and is registered as professional geophysicist in the province of Alberta.
