The Council unanimously approved the dues structure on 10 October 2004 during the SEG Annual Meeting in Denver, USA. The Council approved the updated the Student dues structure on 18 October 2015 during the SEG Annual Meeting in New Orleans, USA. The three-tiered dues structure is based on the country classifications of the World Bank , based on gross national income per capita, divided into: high-income economies (group IV), upper-middle income economies (group III) and low-income/lower-middle economies (groups I and II). Membership dues are based on citizenship or primary work residence; the assessed dues will be whichever rate is higher.

Examples
The dues for a member whose citizenship OR primary work residence is in a group IV country are:
$120 per year for Active and Associate Membership
$60 for Emeritus Membership
The dues for a member whose citizenship is in a group III country and whose primary work residence is in either a group III or group I & II country are:
$60 per year for Active and Associate Membership
$30 for Emeritus Membership
The dues for a member whose citizenship is in a group I or II country and whose primary work residence is in a group III country are:
$60 per year for Active and Associate Membership
$30 for Emeritus Membership
The dues for a member whose citizenship AND primary work residence is in a group I or II country are:
$16 per year for Active and Associate Membership
$8 for Emeritus Membership
*Student members and professional members in group I and II countries will receive electronic journals only. The print version of TLE can be received by paying the group III country rate ($60/$30). *Student members can purchase the print version of TLE by paying $40.
